The Hawaii Preparatory Academy Middle School Handbell Choir, under the direction of Georgia Polakova, will offer a series of free public performances to welcome the holiday season beginning Nov. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Prince Kuhio Plaza in Hilo.

Students will also perform at 5 p.m. Dec. 4 during the Parker Ranch Tree Lighting at Puuopelu, Waimea; from 6 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5, Kings’ Shops, Waikoloa; 9 to 10 a.m. Dec. 6, Waimea Town Farmers Market, Parker School, Waimea; and noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 7, Parker Ranch Food Court, Waimea/

The handbell choir has been part of the HPA Middle School experience for more than 25 years. The choir consists of 12 to 18 students who play for seven weeks, usually performing after four-weeks of rehearsal.

The handbell choir’s first CD, “A Ka Makani Christmas,” is available for $10 at all of its performances, the HPA Bookstore, HPA Village Campus office, Isaacs Art Center and online at hpa.edu. All proceeds benefit the HPA Middle School Handbell Choir.
